What This Week! (Vol. 4 2025)

WEEK: 1/26/2025 - 2/1/2025

Can you believe this will be the 4th week of giving you guys weekly updates? I have come to love this segment of blog posts so much because I feel like I get to share my boring life with my besties! This week was busy but also somehow…not?

Can I recall what I did day-to-day besides make the best lattes known to man and try some new dinner recipes? Naur. However, care to know what creative ideas my brain conjured up that I could not let go of? I’ll tell you!

I created a book journal on canva that focuses on creating mood boards for the books I finish. It keeps my mind super focused when I’m bored or in need of a distraction. I also have been toying with the idea of becoming a PA, but it’s so scary. Most of the jobs I’ve worked have been in corporate or administrative settings and I come with good references, but I can’t quite say I know the best approach about branching out! I’ve also been toying with the idea for a book, but I blame my long Amtrack ride for that one.

If you’ve been following my WTW articles, then you know I try to complete an audiobook once a week. This week, I finished The Blood We Crave parts 1& 2 by Monty Jay and to say this was probably one of the most amazing stories I’ve read in a long time is an understatement. The plot was great, but it was the moody and deep depictions of obsession and love that had me hooked! I know my dark romance girlies get it!

What am I reading this week?

Honestly, I was so caught up in my mind last week that I couldn’t really focus on my reads besides my audiobooks so this week’s reads are the same as last week!

Missed what I was reading? You can check it out here: What This Week (Vol. 3 2025)

Influencer Spotlight

Bookstagram:

@slashers.cauldron on Instagram

Slasher is moving and shaking in the dark romance community! I had the pleasure of meeting this sweet soul at Sinners & Stardust (2024) and she is just as precious as you’d imagine her to be. From being a girl’s girl to working her butt off in the book community - you’ll get a mix of business AND fun! Take a look at her page for bookish content if you’re a reader and if you’re an author check out her business page! She’s got something for everybody!

Booktok:

@margaretsamora on Tik Tok

Margaret is one of the cutest booktoker’s and I mean her personality is just the best. She is a teacher and avid reader of dark romance. Who says you can’t be both? Not only does she post her adorable outfits, but also has some of the best dark romance reccs out there! I can always count on her page to give me a new book to add to the TBR!

Booktube:

@LarryReads on Youtube

If you haven’t seen Larry rave about her favorite dark romance reads, then where have you been? On all platforms, she helps break down the stigma surrounding dark romance one post at a time whether she knows it or not. As a dark romance reader, I love watching her content because not only is she funny with the best recommendations, but she truly is one of the most genuine creators that I’ve seen out there!

Author Spotlight

Lo Gold! Front and center, pleaseee!

If you don’t know, Lo Gold debuted this year as a dark romance author and they are crushing it! You can find some of their releases below and honestly, I highly suggest keeping these books on your radar! If you’re looking for a new Indie Author to support, you’d be missing out if you didn’t check their backlog out!

New-to-Me Authors

Where did I find these new-to-me authors? On Tik Tok this week! I’m so excited to add these to my “want to read” shelf on goodreads and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into them!

If you’ve read any of these books before, let me know in the comment section which one you’d like to see the Library of Angel’s team review first! Authors, PA’s, and Readers alike can submit a review request form on our services page!

Bookish News This Week:

Skipping Prologues: Have You Done It?

Are you guilty of just wanting to skip straight to the meat of the story? Because, honestly…I’m guilty as charged!

I have always been a reader, but when I got back into it as an adult in 2021 I was so eager to dveour as many books as I could. There’s something about rediscovering your love for books that feels so liberating. In my haste to discover every unique version of this world through words on paper - I found myself often skipping prologues.

That is, until I leaned into them as sources to amplify the story. All these stories that we read are extremely unique, no matter how many times you read the same tropes. Dark romance, even more so. Everything is so intertwined in these stories, and obviously, vastly different from most of our everyday lives. Prologues offer us a way to see a partial picture of this puzzle we’re trying to put together!

While, I don’t skip prologues anymore, I’ll be sure to let you know that I surely won’t do it again. I find them rather enticing now! However, read in the way that not only suits you, but makes you happy! Happy Reading, little angels!

Booktube Videos of The Week

If you need a hilarious bookish duo to watch, I think Larry and her mother Eureka are going to give you the content you were yearning for. I have nothing other than to say, while I watched this for 30 minutes - I got absolutely no work done. I was cracking up and truly entertained the entire time. Eureka is a character and I absolutely need more videos with her in them!

This video made me rethink reading some books that have been on my TBR for long time as well as giving me new books to ADD to it. I swear, the more I get into Booktube, the more my bookshelves are going to hate me! Hannah had some great unhinged picks and as you can see she’s holding The Simmer by Shantel Tessier so you can absolutely rust thats he knows what she’s talking about lol!
